Facebook is the king of social media king with more than 1 billion daily users. With such staggering numbers, there is a flood of information going around.

For most businesses, it’s crucial to understand behavior patterns in terms of sharing, so as to understand what content would stand out and pass around most in order to up their social media marketing game.

Content marketing agency Fractl surveyed 2000 on their content sharing habits, and put together the results in an infographic, providing details on the type of content that gets shared by the different genders and generations.

What do men and women share?
According to the results, men and women both prefer to share news and funny videos. While women are more likely to share inspirational stories and baby pictures, men usually opt for political content according to the results of the survey.

What do millennials, generation xers and baby boomers share?
According to the results of the survey, political content is the winning choice among most millennials, with millennial men least likely to share content on Facebook.

On the other hand, baby boomers are most actively sharing political content and are least likely to share memes or satirical news. While baby boomer women have taken over Facebook with their love of food, and all things inspiring.

Irrespective of gender or generation, the survey revealed that the most popular choice of content is funny content.

So for all marketers out there, a bit of fun with your branding can go a long way. Literally.
